Israel Education and Advocacy

The JCRC staffs the Jewish Federation’s Israel Education and Advocacy Committee. This Committee works to prepare local high school students for potential anti-Israel programs and sentiment on college campuses.

Educational trainings and programs are offered to help our future college students effectively defeat or weaken potential campus-based BDS efforts. The JCRC also works to educate and support college students in Texas to address anti-Israel sentiment and programming on campus.

In order to build understanding and generate support for Israel, the JCRC works to bring relevant speakers to the community, and advocates for Israel with our legislative leaders. In coalition with others, the JCRC organizes the pro-Israel movement throughout Greater Dallas to provide visible and strong support during times of both peace and conflict.

The JCRC is instrumental in convening a wide range of Jewish and non-Jewish advocates to both learn about and demonstrate their support for the Jewish homeland.

Israel Advocacy Highlights

In May 2017, Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed into law House Bill (HB) 89/Senate Bill (SB) 134, the Anti-BDS Bill.

The Texas anti-BDS Bill Coalition recognizes State Representative Phil King and Senator Brandon Creighton for their leadership in authoring a state-wide bill condemning BDS, making it illegal for Texas businesses that engage in BDS activity to receive state contracts, and prohibiting investment in any company that supports BDS.
